Today we will be having the "Battle of The Blues Band" competition in Santa Barbara at SOHO a nightclub. This event will take place 12 pm to 6 pm with 9 bands signed up. I dreamt about this event last night in anticipation of what was going to go right and wrong. This is my 6th Battle and I have had pretty good luck with only one threat of violence during my first battle. Seems that some bikers of a club came to the event at The Brickhouse and said their favorite band , in the battle, must win. I said I was only the mc and said what will be will be. Well luckily for me their favorite band won and the motorcycle club went away drunk and happy. Whew! Most of the time these events are very happy events for me. I love to see the talent blossom. I encourage the bands to write original material/songs. I feel that there are already a lot of blues fan bands, I want blues musicians that have a vision of where to take the blues and make it their own. When I think of blues musicians that inspire me I think of Howlin' Wolf and how he always tried to improve his blues with music lessons and listening to  other kinds of music.
