Well I am so bummed. My wife Marcie and I went to Memphis, TN. in January spending over 3,000 dollars to ask The Gibson Guitar Foundation to give the Santa Barbara Blues Society(SBBS) a "Lucille" guitar to raise funds for a blues a school program that I beleive in my heart will keep the blues alive through our youth. We also spent 4,ooo dollars on a blues cruise to get signatures for the guitar raffle to make fans of the blues more excited. Well we had the drawing Nov.11 in Santa Barbara at the SBBS event with Jimmy Thackery and James Harman at The Earl Warren Showgrounds. My wife had to set the drum down on stage to pick out a name and had to turn her back to set the drum down on a speaker stand. Well after she drew the name I announced the winner and the winner, Douglas Carroll came on the stage and gave the guitar back to us to raise more funds. Well the SBBS got an email today from someone that bought a ticket saying we cheated and gave the guitar to Douglas. I didn't even recognize the name when I announced it! Why would I spend all the money to give the guitar to someone? I will just give the money next time we spent to the SBBS. I guess I'm just too naive and trusting to even think that we would do a cheating game.
Believe in your cause but be careful! There are fools out there.
